Cerium oxide is the classic polish for glass, and it also works well on quartz and agate. Use it as the final step for a bright finish on tumbled glass, or as an alternative to aluminum oxide on quartz-family stones.
- Use about 2 tablespoons per pound of material in a rotary tumbler.
- Run with plastic pellets to cushion the load.
- Clean the barrel thoroughly before the polish step. A single grain of coarse grit can haze the batch.
